The holidays are right around the corner, which means lots of parties, wine, and delicious food! So how do we find balance in a season that is all about consuming the finer things in life? We’ve compiled some tips below to help you out!
1. A brisk 20 minute walk will burn off a glass of wine 2. Plan an extra hour of exercise when you consume dessert 3. Complete at least 150 minutes of exercise a week to maintain weight 4. Plan your “cheat days” on the same day you workout 5. Choose to walk instead of driving short distances (don’t forget to lather up on sunscreen!) 6. Increase your water! A good rule of thumb is to drink your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 50kg, drink your weight in ounces of water. Don’t work with ounces? 50 ounces = 1.5 liters. This will also help with joint issues and promote hair and skin health. 7. Don’t skip meals to “save up” for a special meal. This generally can lead to over eating. 8. When sitting down with that delicious plate of holiday food, be sure to eat your vegetables first in order to get the nutrients your body needs. Follow that with protein, carbs, then dessert. 9. Lastly, ditch the guilt! The holidays are meant for enjoying. Life is all about balance!
