Instructor Spotlight: Margaux Lim

We have two new instructors that we are going to shine the spotlight on this week! Read on to learn a little more about them and their teaching style.

What is your fitness background?
I’ve always enjoyed doing athletic activities (dance, cheerleading, swimming) when I was in high school and university, but I only started being serious about my fitness and health when I began to look for activities that would help me manage a high-stress consulting job. Fast forward to many years later, I am now a full-time movement coach focused on combining different modalities such as yoga, neuromuscular therapy, and joint mobility training to help my clients with their fitness pursuits.
  What interested you in teaching at Elev8? 
My first few classes at Elev8 were so challenging, but the method made me want to keep going back just to get better. My body felt great after each class (hello, post-class shakes!) and I noticed my endurance greatly improved as well. I believe in modalities that allow people to find an integrated way of moving their own bodies and minds, and Slow Resistance Training is one of them. I wanted more people to feel what I experienced in class and the best way was to be an instructor!
What is your personal exercise regimen?  I make sure to work out 3 to 4 times a week. I do a combination of yoga, SRT, and the occasional class for any method I’m curious about. 
How would you describe your teaching style? 
I try to be very methodical about whatever I teach. On top of cheering on my clients to move and sweat, I usually insert tidbits of knowledge that I hope would encourage them to be curious about their own bodies! 
What excites you the most about teaching at Elev8? 
I am most excited about connecting with our clients and seeing them get stronger both on and off the machine. Hearing our clients say how SRT has impacted how they move and live their lives inspires me to keep giving back to the Elev8 community.
What is your favorite Elev8 Move? 
Power Lunge. I love that it’s a tricky coordination exercise!
What do you like to do in your free time? 
I refill my energy tank in my free time by doing some light gardening, playing with my cat and dog, or trying out a new cookbook recipe. You can say that Ina Garten (The Barefoot Contessa) is my spirit animal!
Tell us a fun fact about you!
  I was born inside a pickup truck! I guess I was in a hurry to say hello to the world. 

Catch Margaux’s classes in BGC on Sundays at 12:30pm and 1:30pm and Tuesdays at 7:30am.
