Instructor Spotlight: Ericka Mejia

What is your fitness background?   I teach yoga and indoor cycling full time. 

What interested you in teaching at Elev8?  I believe in the Elev8 method and loved that I felt accomplished and super strong after every class, so I wanted to share that feeling with others. 

What is your personal exercise regimen? I make it a point to practice yoga every week and swim once or twice a week, especially when I have a competition. I also teach indoor cycling twice or thrice a week, which counts as a workout for me since I do the entire class with the riders. I also take Elev8 classes to balance things out and when I have some free time I try different workouts to keep it dynamic. 

How would you describe your teaching style? I’d like to think that I’m able to push clients while making them feel safe and encouraged to take it at their own pace or add a challenge when they’re ready. I also make sure the music makes the experience much more enjoyable because the best workouts happen when you also feel good about yourself in the moment.

What excites you the most about teaching at Elev8? Seeing blocks I’ve made come to life, seeing clients vibe with the music, and the workout.

What is your favorite Elev8 Move?  Donkey Kicks!

What do you like to do in your free time?  Head to the beach to surf or binge on series, especially on my rest days.
